I found some heat shrink tubing and covered the GI rods with it. No fear about damaging the crown. I got my GI kit from ebay, it had the correct handle that lets you pull the bolt apart. I have noticed that some GI kits just have a simple handle.
"...didn't come with a cleaning kit..." They don't. Use any .30 cal cleaning kit.
"...No fear about damaging the crown..." Flash hiders make that go away.
"...lets you pull the bolt apart..." Don't unless you know how to reassemble it. You don't need to take the bolt apart for normal cleaning anyway.
Pardon me? Very few people will ever recomend using a 4 piece rod on your rifle over a 1 piece. The suppresor is larger diameter than the bore. Covering the rod with heat shrink is clever but why not just buy a quality 1 piece rod and bore guides and clean it at home. Use the multi tool. I have GI kits for my M1A's and AR's. They are in original wrap.
