cleaning lead shot

You can try dish soap and a little citric acid. Agitate and drain. if you rinse them again with water and jus a little dish soap and lay them out to dry the rate of oxidation should be less

The white powder is lead oxide, so keep your ten digits out of any of your bodies 6 holes until you have had a chance to wash your hands.

Then after drying out, to make them look real again add powdered graphite and shake them up in a plastic jar. Don't add excessive graphite to the mix.
Some just add graphite to the white looking ones to make them dark again. It helps the flow through the reloader. Don't breath any of the dust while handling the shot. Heed what Yomomma says, rubber gloves would be appropriate while handling.
