Cleaning/Lubricating M14 (LUBRIPLATE/Froglube)

Hi Guys,

I am picking up my new m305 on Friday and have been doing my research and see that i need a good grease for cleaning and lubricating the m14. Now the only place I have been able to find LUBRIPLATE - LUBRIPLATE 130-A MIL. SPEC. GREASE is in the United States. Anyone know of a place that stocks it in Canada? Would it be ok for me to use Froglube as a substitute until i get an order in or can I just stick with the Froglube?

Try NAPA or auto parts west/auto parts plus.

I bought a tube of 630AA a couple of years ago, and it is almost a lifetime supply.

Any good automotive parts place should carry it, Ive used it for years, its great stuff.

Any grease will do. I just bought a high temp lithium based grease. Frog lube on the outside for rust protection.

Only grease where grease is supposed to go.

I use high temp automotive grease on my m14. Its not going to do much if it cant handle getting a bit warm i figure.

For Lubriplate try Acklands, NAPA, or even Bumper to Bumper.

I'm just using froglube.... But I've only fired 40 rounds so far.

I am using castrol synthetic grease. A tube will last a lifetime. Seems to work great even in extreme temperatures.

Based on what I'm reading at M14forum, Lubriplate seems to be a favourite choice of grease. The US Army recommends that a grease have an NLGI rating of 2.

I've been using Lucas Wheel Bearing Grease. I figure if it's good enough for the abuse my Land Rover goes through it's good enough for the M305 too.

I'm also using a thin film of it on the heavy contact parts on the SKS and TT-33 (lockup area, bolt-slide/hammer contact patch, sks bolt/carrier rails). Both are running fine in the cold.
