I cleaned all my magazines and left them dry. I am a competitive shooter and I'm too old to deploy to areas of conflict, so my bangsticks are range queens. Hence the advice to shoot with your M14 mags DRY.

Now, on the other hand.... While in 1PPCLI, I lightly oiled the insides and outsides of my FNC1A1 magazines for the hostile environments I expected myself to be found in.

Does this make sense ?

Yes, clean out the gas cylinder and ensure it is DRY. It is designed to be fired dry. Back in my NRA High Power competition days, I would leave a couple of drops of bore cleaner to loosen the carbon and then shoot the rifle to blow the carbon out. Standard practice on our shooting team.

Buy your wife some treats or light a scented candle. Ensure that you keep your spouse the happiest. I've been married (coming on to) 22 years and we are good to go for much longer !!! I bought her a 9mm and another AR carbine... that's how you get around the wife... did I mention a Winchester Stealth II .308 sniper rifle, too ?

Cheers,
Barney
