I had some really dirty .44 mag brass that I used for BP rounds so I thought I would give the plastic beads a whirl. I put in three cap fulls of Brasso into the 3 pounds of pellets and mixed it around and let it run for 10 minutes and then I dumped in the dirty brass. I let the machine run over night or about 6 hours (light sleeper) and when I checked on them holy cow, they were like new. Problem is that all the pellets are now black so I will need to wash them here pretty quick. I need to get one of the strainers with the mosquito size mesh in it.

I'm not too sure that would work, The store caters mostly to women who make their own jewellery and is filled with all kinds of beading and such. When I went in I was the only male in the place.

I don't think this is a place that would be willing to support our cause in such a manner. I'm just glad they are friendly to the idea.

<insert rant on here>

Is it just me or is there something wrong with this, As a new CSSA member I keep trying to bring ideas to the table and people shoot them down. I know they cater to women THAT's THE POINT. If we have a CSSA rep in that area it would require no more than 30min of their time to ask a simple question. this owner just sold her complete stock of beeds for 3 years in 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things like this is why we keep losing the battle.
Is there a CSSA rep in this area, or a rep from the CSSA willing to try the worst she will say is NO

Just because the supplier caters to women doesn't mean they're anti-gun. I know Edmonton is sometimes referred to as Redmonton for reasons that I guess you have to live there to understand but it's still a huge distance away from the realm of cheeseburger queen Wendy (Toronto) and King Gilles humming collective (Montreal). Nothing to lose by asking.

Tried mine last night on some pretty tarnished 9mm ( been sitting in a pail in the cold/hot etc for 3 years that I know of- not quite green , but getting there). After about 2 hours I could definitely see some shine stating to appear while the media definitely started to grey out. I'll try overnight & depending on results try adding Brasso.

edited to add- ran overnight and while clean & shiny- media quite darkened - they don't really sparkle. will try ading some Brasso tonight

Ya, I made that mistake the first time too....

I just loosened the lid screw a few turns and poured 95% of the water out into the sink - build in strainer!

It won't polish the cases super bright, but it does clean the residue off the brass really good.... and its pretty easy to clean up and leaves no residue on the brass

Hehe, I did the same as well. I dried the beads and did some tumbling with some dirty 9mm brass and it worked very good. Cleaning the beads was no problem since the water doesn't get absorbed by the media.

I think you guys nit-pic. Corn cob from the pet store and Nu-Finish, works like a damned!!! Costs almost NOTHING!!

Until you try to clean 30 cal cases with a shoulder. Then you'll find out how hard it is to get the larger crumbs out of the cases. 223 is just insain. You might as well throw it out. If you're cleaning straight cases, I agree that it's easy and cheap.

Has anybody ever tried bird seed/budgie food, minus the sunflower seeds?

I was looking at it last night. Nice small granuals, hard, but not hard enough to scratch brass, and very cheap for a huge bag. The only thing I'd be concerned about is the oil from the seeds causing a problem. I'd try it, but the bags are pretty big. I guess if it's a fail, then I could always just put it out in the neighbours yard and let the birds crap on his deck instead of ours :D

50lb bag of 12/20 Walnut - <$20 = years of cleaning.

I'll stick with the cheap walnut. It comes out of my 223, 22 Hornet, 22-250, 6BR cases and works fast.

Thanks to the OP for testing the pellets out though.
