Just bought a brand new cz 452 varmint and need to learn how to clean it. What type of rod and brush should I use. what type of cleaner Should I get a bore guide What about a bore snake and if so what type/make Any pointers and warnings would be appreciated I really don't want to damage this gun. Thanks

No brush, bore guide yes, you'll probably need a .17 cal rod, I like stainless. No snake, hoppes nitro powder solvent should do what you need, don't overdue it, you'll do more damage cleaning than shooting it.
I cleaned the bore of my 452 once since I got it a year ago, still shoots better than I can.

I find my CZ's were a pain in the a$$ to clean without a bore guide as the sear gets in the way. As mentioned above you can get a .17 cal. rod with an adapter to take the .22 jag, as the bore are tight. I use a .20 cal. rod for all my .22's.

I only clean mine after the accuracy starts to fall off, 1500-2500 rounds normally depending on what firearm.

I also have a 452 Varmint. Fantastic gun. Cleaning is necessary only a few times a year. I use a bore guide ( YoDave sells one specifically made for CZ 452's). I also use a Dewey coated rod. You need a .20 or .17 rod as CZ's bores are tight. I use a .20 rod with a .22 jag. You need to buy an adapter to connect the 2. Everything is explained on Dewey web site I think. The only brush I use is nylon.

Patch worm Otis, weed eater string all clean from chamber to muzzle,no bore guide required. Bore snakes do well also, just keep it clean and can be washed if required. The first cleaning out of the box needs some attention as there is inhibiting oil in the barrel that should come out. After that when you find the ammo it likes cleanings can wait until the accuracy drops off.My 2¢

Otis cleaning kit and wipeout cleaner. Push rod won't get it anywhere near as clean as the otis kit will. When you start to disturb the leading the the barrel, you want it all out, not part of it. Also, look into dyna bore cote. Jordan Smith on here sells it.

Remove bolt and if using a rod I like to stick a zip tie on the trigger to depress the sear so the rod passes through easy. I also like to use a .17 coated rod and jag with cotton patches. Eds red is my preferred choice of solvent, but for the less adventurous hoppes is fine.

Give it a really wet patch of solvent and let it soak 2-3 mins or so, then a dry patch, repeat a couple times. When both the wet and dry patches come out clean finish with a dry patch and you're done.
