Cleaning my T97 for the first time.

I personally use Hoppes #9, and Outers gun oil, but any actual oil would suffice for me. I like to put a little bit of white lithium grease on the bolt rails of my rifles as well, but I'm sure you can get away without it.

For the first cleaning spray everything down with g96 it will remove the shipping grease and protect the metal surfaces from corrosion, use good hi temp-lithium based grease ngli-2 or better for the reciever rails and bolt. Lots of guys are seeing excessive reciever wear when using thin spray on lubricants.

x2 with G96. I use shell Roteilla 0W40 pure synthetic diesel oil on my rails and bolts. on top of the soaked G96 and on hard wear points. Cheap works in extreme cold or heat. I'm not a fan of grease as it locks crud in. would no doubt work as piston systems put less on the bolt. But I use the same for all my firearms and the diesel oil works with the g96 very well.

Gunzilla. I used to use G96 alot and found it kind of soupy. I gave up on 2 step hoppes cleaning long ago. But its nice to have the Good old Hoppes solvent and separate #9 lube for when stuff is really bad. But I found Gunzilla works the best so far. Don't have a T97 mind you.

hmmm. Good to know. I shoot indoor now and never thought of extreme cold. I wasn't using gunzilla when I was the member of an outdoor range. But now that you mentioned it a bit of research has shown its water based and gels up. I still have tons of hoppes and I guess I'll remember to use that if going out in the cold.
