In reference to the controlled environment.......Different agencies do it differently especially if they have a separate standalone tac team. We didn't have that luxury initially, for a standalone team so we doubled as Patrol.
Same with the Governors security/VIP team @ the State level, double duty.
So the boomer(s) stayed in the PPV trunk with your other gear. We were trained to use #9 and not to clean "too clean" and lose the "0". We didn't have to worry about any mil rank that might be anal about "white gloving" a DM piece. We even used #9 in the cans. Makes wonderful makeup, depending on firearm. lol

Totally agree! You do what works and what is available to you! Wipe out can be used the same way with less mess and no harsh smell and I believe it's non toxic.
I typically shoot 50-75 rounds every trip to the range.
I insert a patch soaked in #9 in the chamber, just entering the muzzle.
Remove it after a few days and it's usually blue from fouling.
I dont really clean the barrel all that much, but when I do, I leave #9 in there for a day or so,then a quick
patch with the rod.

Thanks DG, I'm gonna try it. The Hoppes is a little much for leaking and the smell, plus it leaked and made a red spot on my truck carpet. OK, OK the truth... my wife hates the smell in the house.........so Hoppes isn't welcome at our home much longer AND I don't want to be sharing the streets with him lol.

In my modern rifles I don't clean them unless they need to be. With my .303 Brit I would clean it every time it was used until I started Using non corrosive, now I clean the bolt every second time and the barrel when it starts opening up.
