Actually, the missing clearing rod is "correct", and I'd be very surprised indeed if you had located a Martini-Enfield equipped with a rod.
The British War Department abolished "clearing rods" (as they were then called) for all .303 caliber rifles and carbines in May, 1899. The effect of this was no .303 rifles manufactured thereafter had rods, nor any provision for them (i.e. no hole or rod channel) and exisiting rifles and carbines had their rods removed and disposed of .....
