Cleaning rod guide?

I use Lucas bore guides:

They have and internal guide made for the brand of cleaning rod you have. He makes them for both centerfires and rimfires.

Lucas are considered by many to be the best rod guides out there. If u have one u r lucky. I spoke to Mike Lucas directly last week and no longer ships to Canada because its considered a gun part, stupid I know bit he got grief and will no longer ship rod guides to Canada.

I was hoping you'd actually think for yourself and figure it out but I guess that isn't going to happen is it? :(

So far all thats been said is that a brass or aluminum rods apparently collect grit and dirt, but somehow steel rods do not, and that the others cannot be cleaned the same as steel.

I'm still waiting to hear something intelligent, but you guys got 3 posts so far and nothing has presented itself yet. Why don't you just stop posting so the rest of us will figure it out for ourselves the accuracy of your opinion.

wow!

A gun part my rear end! If they are too lazy to support their customers then don't support them. You can buy a good guide from Sinclair Int'l.

Amen. I just bought bore guides direct from Dewey, as well as bags of brushes and bore mops.

I can tell you, a bore guide is NOT a significant firearms part.

Ian x2. I know exactly what u both mean and agree. I am just telling what he said. It is rediculous.

Aside from the points already mentioned, a properly fitted bore guide will keep the cleaning rod straight and prevent it from flexing and contacting the rifling.

A rod passed through a bore off center or bowed will damage the bore, especially in the throat area.

Of course good rod technique is important too.

Hope this helps.
