Cleaning rod issue with new CZ457MTR?

I just took delivery of a new 457 MTR and prior to shooting it I thought it would be prudent to run a patch or two down the bore. To my surprise my Parker Hale .22 cleaning rod barely fits. It makes a LOT of contact with the bore. I then read on some of he USA forums that this is a common problem wit those CZs with match barrels. The Pro Shot .20 caliber rod had been recommended but in looking at them I see that the .20 cal rods will not accept a .22 cal brush.

Has anyone else experience the same difficulty and has a recommendation for a cleaning rod? Thanks for any advice.

I don't own a CZ 457, but I do own 452 and 455, and I use a Tipton Deluxe Carbon Fiber 1-peice rod, size is the .22 to .26 caliber, and it works fine with good clearance. I use a Possum Hollow bore guide made for those CZ's. However the jag sometimes catches on the the ejector, which is irritating, so have to wiggle it around, move the guide back and forth to get the jag to pass over the ejector. I think this is a problem with the bore guide design or tolerances, not the rod, because the rod itself has plenty of clearance. The bore guide is fully open on the bottom in that vicinity when I think it maybe should have a recessed cut that goes over the ejector that is not exposed to the rod bore. But if recessed like that, I guess that would be a very very thin area of delrin remaining for that separation for the rod to pass over, so maybe a difficult/not possible design for the delrin plastic guide. Maybe I got a bore guide where the angle of its bore is just off slightly and it forces the jag a little too close to the ejector sometimes?

I use that same Tipton rod for my Anschutz 1907 (and its a match chamber for sure), with a Possum Hollow Anschutz bore guide, and again no issues with that Tipton rod clearance. It has an 8-32 female thread.

This isn't the answer any of you want, but as much as I enjoy the practice of cleaning guns (honestly, I do)...I have major cleaning-rod-phobia. lol I once bought a used 17HMR that wouldn't shoot worth a damn=turned out the crown was butchered by careless use of a cleaning rod by it's original owner. I had the phobia before that, the experience drove that issue deeper. :)

I had Dewey rods at that point, but "upgraded" to Pro-Shot, and bought gun-specific bore guides the guns that would benefit from them. Designed/CNC-cut./fabricated a wall-mounted acrylic rack to organize the rods/guides and also holds my trigger pull gauge. Thought that would boost the confidence. Did a little, but this is my go to 99% of the time;

These green, felt "buttons" used first, have been very effective cleaning the bore..followed-up by cotton patches of course. I have the kit, the felt buttons (also bought some from Nordic) and the .17 cal pull-through. When the bore is dirty, the cord itself gets wiped with a clean rag between passes.

So yeah...some nice cleaning rods, organized/nice presentation...and I'm effectively using a glorified gas trimmer cord. For what this costs though, no DIY req.
