cleaning sks after a shoot

after shooting i came home and took the gun apart. using the brush i scrubbed the barrel then i used nitro solvent on patches a few times then put oiled patches down threw, then ran dry patches till nothing left, she is like a mirror. with that said i should be good to go? and all the parts were wiped down and cleaned up.
 
cleaned them all out very tediously on my part i am very peticular on how my guns are cleaned thats why i asked i have never shot corrosive ammo before
 
Warm soapy water down the barrel, flush out gas port, tube, and spray pistons down with soapy water...wipe bolt face with patch soaked in soapy water...swab out the action. Dry everything, then clean and oil as you normally would. Don't forget the inside of the breach cover.
 
shot my sks for the first time today. 30 minutes shooting and just as long cleaning. the bore was like a chimney. gonna do it again next weekend!
 
pash1977 is correct when shooting corrosive ammo clean as he described and all will be good takes a little time but not that much to do a compete cleaning.

You did just fine. That's all you need to do, as long as you do it the same day. Don't listen to mambo jumbo cleaning advice.
 
As said above, there are many different cleaning advices out there, especially don't listen the ones involving a dishwasher!
Sorry just had to mention it before someone else does.
 
He can clean his gun anyway he wants but the advice is not mambo jumbo it is good advice on cleaning when shooting corrosive ammo.
 
So is it that importaint to clean your SKS that fast after shooting corrosive ammo? just asking as I have never seen let alone used this type of ammo.
