Hey All:

I have a few MagPul magazines and they're excellent because I can remove the floorplate and blow the mag out with a compressor. I recently bought a Tapco to see how they were and was disappointed that I could not remove the floorplate.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers!

Click the back button back to the Black and Green Rifles forum list.
Scroll up to the top of the list.
At the top right corner of the list, not the page, click "search forum".
Search "take apart tapco".

When you find it, you'll $ht bricks.

I would imagine so. I'm not sure the Gen difference really. Unless mine is older and they changed them since, but I bought mine new less then a year ago.
Doesn't say on the mag or package what Gen is it. If I'm reading the date stamp right, says it's either made 2010 or 2011. There are roman numerals on the side near the bottom that say II. Pretty sure it's gen 2.

Maybe then glued yours ? Does it feel like the internal plate is moving at all ?

It's a pain in the ass at first, Especially if you are using your hand. Recommend a solid wood surface or carpet floor.
Kind of takes a technique. You have to be firm with the smack, but light with the finger on the floor plate.
I'll bang the front edge of the mag, and not the feed lips on my carpet floor to do it.

Yeah, it feels like it at first. It'll be fine, you'll manage when you need to. Luckily you don't have to do it often.

I don't think I've ever cleaned mine. Got over 4k thru' my AR since I got that particular mag, mind you, it's just the one mag, out of the 12 or so that I own and use.

Only reason I take it apart is to bask in the glory of it's awesome pinning method, or to pull out it's spring to trouble shoot other mags.

Drill small hole in bottom of Floorplate.

Push up on spring baseplate.

Slide off floorplate.

Clean and reassemble.
