I know many people here, perhaps the majority, don't clean the bore of their rimfire rifles that much, or at all, but what about the crown? i notice that the crown of my rifle seems to be pretty dirty, which has hardened pretty well(or badly). how often do you guys clean the crowns on your rifles, and what procedures/steps do you guys take when doing so? i probably oil my rifle every week or two, depending on range trips so i could probably clean the crown when doing this, if its a step that should be done.
on a related note, does having a dirty crown effect POI? a bad crown will effect POI, but would hardened carbon built up on the crown effect it just as badly?
