Cleaning the Glock 17 firing pin.

shoot shoot shoot then shoot some more and shoot shoot shoot.
when you are done:

unload, show clear, #### it, depress the trigger. Shake the gun in a straight motion (back and forth) holding it as you were going to shoot, here that clingy sound, that is your firing pin moving loose in the channel, if you don't hear the noise you need to clean it. Is it too dirty and the pin is not moving freely.

That is how an armourer will check the firing pin channel.
Cheers.

Great advice. I have about 4500 rounds down mine preformed this little test to day and I guess I passed going to shoot another 500 in the am. And I'm going to tear her apart an see what I have in there update to follow

I picked up a used Glock from an Ontario dealer a while back. When it arrived in the mail it was an absolute mess. Whoever owned it previously NEVER cleaned it once. I had to take my small tap hammer in order to get the firing pin assembly out after removing the slide cover plate. The spring cups where caked in carbon crap and the whole assembly needed to be soaked in G96. The extractor depressor plunger and spring where in worse shape as well. To make a long story short and because the Glock wouldn't go into battery, I completely stripped the gun down, cleaned it, replaced the channel liner, replaced the recoil assembly, reassembled it and boy does it shoot. It just goes to show you that a Glock keeps on ticking when it takes a licking.....
