Great kit!

Problem I'm finding is cleaning it. It's so much fun to shoot, that I'm putting way more ammo through it than the original 10/22 that made it up. It's getting gunked-up really badly.

Am I missing something, or is the only way to get to the bolt assy to take the whole thing apart?

Unfortunately that's the deal with a 10/22, dissassembly to clean..kind of sucks but they're good rifles. Not as easy as a C7.

Lock the bolt open, wipe interior out with a decent powder solvent. Run a bore snake through the barrel, followed by a patch worm.

Keep it up and don't lube the bolt. You should be good to go for 5k+.

Definatly DON'T put any lube in it. The Remington dry teflon spray stuff if you must. If it's a krinker plinker version 1.0 or 1.5 you can just remove the two bolts that go through the receiver, pivot the lower handguard down a bit, and she'll all come apart. Then just tap out the bolt buffer, take the bolt out, and clean away, pop the trigger group out too if you want. After a few times you'll prolly want to replace the tiny hex head bolts they give ya with something easier to remove. I keep the stock bolts for going to the media days, etc, so it looks pretty and evil. If i'm blasting away pumping 50 round mags through here in a couple of seconds, I use some quick release bolts/cotter pins that do the trick, and tear down for assembly takes 10 seconds. Sometimes, I had to clean it after around 1k rounds, after chamfering the bolt and polishing it and the receiver rails, I can go around 2.5k or more.
