Cleaning Tokarev in Dishwasher

I just received a Norinco Tok on Friday and it's a little goopy yet. I cleaned cosmoline from my SKS with Brake Cleaner, but have heard people mention using the dishwasher to do it. It's never been an option until now, since my dishwasher is the size of a microwave.

Does anyone have advice on this? Use Extra heat or just normal? I assume no detergent. How far to disassemble? Will things rust if not oiled immediately afterwards?

P.S. I think I found a piece of cosmo in the box, it looks like part of an elastic band. Or is that just part of an elastic band?

It is pretty greasy stuff

Beside, personnally, I think that it is part of the pleasure of getting a new gun.. Humm cleaning something else than a C7A2 and a BHP...

"...use my own guns against me..." Getting shot would likely be better than never being allowed to forget it.
"...Will things rust..." It'll rust eventually. It won't rust immediately. Unless you live near salt water. You don't.
Mineral spirits, aka Varsol, is a better idea than the dishwasher. Cosmoline is petroleum based and is toxic. If you use the dishwasher, you'll be putting oil into the water system. Strip the pistol and drop the parts into a foil pan of varsol for 24 hours. Then wipe off the crud. A toothbrush will help for the nooks and crannies.

After shooting I still clean the frame in hot soapy water, then put it on a hotplate to dry. Spray on some oil and good until next time. Cheap has a quality all of its own :).
 
No :bsFlag:, I clean every gun, pistol and rifle, I get from Marstar in the dishwasher, including the dry cycle. No problem, no residue and no hassle from the wife. A good oiling afterwards, because it will clean everything off it and it will start to get surface rust.
 
I've heard of lots of people cleaning stocks in a dishwasher, which apparently helps to steam out any dents, but not the gun.

I did however, put my thermelts in the dishwasher once when we could still bring our mags home (the wife was out) and it didn't clean the carbon/powder residue off.

It's raise dents...and grain too. This is not too bad though, if people intend of refinishing their stocks, they'll have to get with some sanding anyway.
 
Commoners. I send mine to the drycleaner - comes back clean as a whistle in a nice plastic poncho.
