Gents,..as the proud new owner of a G17 that landed this morning,I was wondering if there are any cleaners or solvents I should stay away from?Or am I just over cautious? She's my first one and I don't want to bugger her up..

Hoppes No.9, brass bore brush, a used toothbrush, couple of cleaning patch, Q-Tips, any gun oil and you are good to go.

Look up Hickok45 on google he uses balistol and has good You tube videos .. so do I, and it does not stink or is corrosive

Do you use it for both a cleaner and lube like he does also? I've never tried it, but want to order some to give it a go. Just curious if it is a decent lubricant also. Good that it doesn't smell, you can smell Hoppes #9 from a mile away as soon as the bottle is open.

Yes I do and once in awhile add a touch of gun grease to the slides, but that is me (Anal)

Wipe down the frame. Factory cleaning brush down the barrel and put it away.

I've only given it a real cleaning and oiling twice in 5 years and 4000+ rounds. I've had zero issues with my G17.

Glocks LOVE to be dirty.

Can't beat grease as a lubricant. The idea of having a cleaner and lube in one product really interests me. Where do you buy your ballistol? From the .ca site?

It's a Glock, there is no need to clean it. Just go shooting. After about 5000 rounds run a few oily patches through the bore. If you want it to be a safe queen, then don't shoot it at all lol.

Yes, I hesitated but eventually bought the (2) can with spray handle.. Glad I did as it's all I use now although I have a housefull of other gun stuff.

I do the same. A quick wipe down, a scoot down the bore, and we're done. Frankly, I just do it to keep it looking clean, because I know people who have NEVER cleaned their glock 17, and after thousands and thousands of rounds, they work as well as mine.

Cool, I just ordered the 4 can package of the Lube aerosol cans. Apparently there is no difference between the Ballistol Lube and the Sportsmens Oil.

Ya, I don't spend much time cleaning my Glock after each range trip, just doesn't need to be that clean. I think I have only done a full strip of it 2-3 times to clean inside the firing pin channel and the whole trigger assembly and it has thousands of rounds through it.
