Cleaning

I had a TC Hawken for 15 of the 18 years and what I have said before worked very well and I had no pitting or rust.
With the transmission fluid and a dry Patch after, I have stored it in my closet over the winter, for four or five months with no rust or any pitting at all.
I now have a green river barrel and treat it the same way.
As I have stated before, I used a dry patch after the wipe with a light trany fluid patch and it has worked just fine.:)

I will give it a try!
i lived in Kamloops for 20 years there is not a speck of rain there so there is no way anything can rust haha

Shouldn't be getting any pitting from a T/C.
I've used JB paste on a number of barrels to take out light pitting.Just smear some on a jagger and run it up and down the bore.
The Powder keg might have it or thegunworks.com in Oregon have it for sure.
Cheers nessy.

Being a B.P. newby myself, I'm starting to get the idea that I can NOT procrastinate when it comes to cleaning my new rifle after it's first usage (this Sunday I hope) and that I should get a head start on the job before even leaving the range.I've always known that B.P. was corrosive but this thread has driven the point home. Thanks guy's.

When my kids are practicing for competition it means cleaning out their rifles 3 times per week. These are traditional rifles. Remove barrel and nipple and stick back end in bucket of water and use ramrod with patch to "pump" water through barrel.

We use Pinesol, with a bit of water soluable cutting oil and alcohol mixed in then just some bore butter to coat the bore. No problems with rust.

For long term storage for all guns we use Eezox as a coating.

Alcohol, peroxide and murphys seems to be the ticket to me. I have tried almost everything and this combo really seems to disolve the residue rather then just flush it out. I have never cleaned as fast with any other cleaner/recipe.
