Cleanshot powder 2f questions?

Hello. I picked up 2lbs of cleanshot 2f powder off of kijiji. Is ot safe to use in a tc hawken percussion?
It smells unlike any gunpowder ive ever seen.
Label says it was made in whitewater colorado.
Any info would be appreciated.
It also says, no lube and no patch. It is a direct replacement for black powder. To seat directly against the charge. Thoughts?

They do not make it any more. Often referred to in the past as Cheap Shot powder. There has been some discussion on its stability over time. If I remember correctly it used an acid based compound in the powder which was not very efficient in producing gases to propel you ball effectively and consistency. Quality was always an issue with it. It changed partnerships over the years with no major improvements. I think even in the end Goex teamed trying to improve it.

Any other name on the cannister other than cleanshot. Most would have said put it in a pile and light it.....I would not use it if you gave it to me. Lot better BP on the market to use.

Without knowing more I would shy away from it.

Bought some some years ago, was awful.
Put the rest in a pile and lit it.......orange ball slowly burning..

Got some at $15/lb and it works okay in shotguns. Haven't tried it on anything else yet.
Hope Goex is back online before I have to consider using it more.
