Clear powder coating

I know there are some that work as I've seen photo's of them on here (cast bullet #### thread for one) and others on Castboolits but the problem with Photo Bucket changes most have been erased. If you can find any of the photo's still visible, most of the contributors supply the powder name in the posts.

How does it hold up to steel car rims is what I'd like to know ... would like to find someone local who can do it at a reasonable cost

typically you would add the clear coat on top of a partially cured coloured finish. They work but you have to dial in your cook times or both layers of coatings can get brittle and crack.

In an industrial operation I have added clear coat to rims for added protection in an end use sea/marine application to great success.

I just ordered glass clear from emerald. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
It's a polyester TGIC coating
I'm new to all this so it should be an adventure
Thanks for your responses

Would love to find someone in the Ottawa area that can do this as I have perfectly fine rims that have a little rust coating and don't want to sandblast and paint it myself..again

Clear coat is probably one of the easiest of the powder coating I have used, it goes on white but starts to turn clear after about five minutes in the oven and it's super slick.

After about 30 seconds of shake and bake.

Ya those do look perfect.
I love the idea of powder coating but just couldn't get past the colors. With that clear coat you get the best of both worlds. Wonder why more people arnt coating with clear

Lemme know when they’re available in mossy oak... ;-)

Actually, “hunter orange” would be cool. Easy to find if dropped while hunting.
