hi their

i was wondering if anyone used climbing stands? i got one at tromblys about a year ago and its comfortable as a couch . the only problem is finding a tree that is straight! i was thinking of taking it up north for bear hunting.

does anyone else use a climber??

well I moose hunt in an API self climber and it is sooooo comfy, but up north the black spruce make it very difficult to use so I use it just like a strap on stand with tree steps. When I'm back down south, there are many trees that will accommodate self climbers.
A lot of oaks, poplars maples and especially red pine. A little cutting and away you go. I especially like them because I can get up really high. Best stand I've ever been in for comfort and although heavy I just strap it to my ATV and away I go.

I use one all the time. The alum ones are very light & portable. I have yet to hunt a spot where I can't find a decent tree. Has lots of other benefits, like when you get up a tree and decide you want a different aspect, it's easy to turn.

I use one for about half of my deer hunting. Mine is whisper quiet and very comfortable. Around my area I never have a problem finding a good tree for it either, so it will really depend on what kind of forest your thinking of hunting! No matter what though, use a good harness and use what you're comfortable with!
