Clip guide removal

Hey, I am in the process of putting on a arms 18 scope mount on my Poly M305, and I am having trouble removing the stripper clip guide. I removed the pin, but cant get the guide to budge in the dovetail mount. Any suggestions or tips to get this part off? I was on a roll, I just replaced my factory rear sights with new US parts and would like to get the scope mount on tonight too.

Put down your purse, have a bowl of wheaties, and smack it sideways with a rubber mallet

Lol, here I was going at it with a hammer and steel punch, ok I will try your rubber mallet and beat the shyte out of it, lol.

good steel hammer solid brass punch (or steel) but it only goes out one way cannot remember if left to right or the other way, if you have the directions that came with the mount it should say,With mine it took one really good strike to get it started

bummer, my mount didn't come with instructions, and I have a feeling I have been pounding it the wrong direction.

Smith Enterprise M14 Scope mount directions say:

slide the stipper clip guide left out of the dovetail (toward bolt release side of receiver)

Thanks Grizzlypeg, I was trying to drive it the wrong way, lol. After wce323078 said it only comes out one way I went out and after a couple of good strikes, real good strikes, it has started to move!

Thanks for the advice everyone, especially the part about putting my purse down, that was immensely valuable! Lol
