I've been a fan of the smaller comps/brakes for a long time. So I decided to design my own and have it made for my own personal use. I've been researching the science of flash hiders, brakes and comps for a while now and the features in this comp reflect some of that research. Holes in the body are drilled at very specific angles (not just 90 deg), as are the holes in the baffle face. Chamber dimensions are very specific.

Those that know what they are looking for can see what I'm trying to accomplish, which is make a reasonable effective comp/brake that won't be annoying to shoot because of the blast. It should offer some very small measure of flash suppression as well.

Testing in a few weeks. :D

Bore one out for .308 and I'll do some field testing for ya ;)

Looks great!

Thanks! I wish it were as simple as that. I'd have to completely redesign the thing for it to work at all for .308.

I'll be happy to test one out for you if made to fit the 858!
Edit - same for the 858....;)

I don't even know if this one works yet....:)

How do you plan on testing it?
Machined out of stainless?

Looks great.

Thanks, yes it's made out of stainless.

I'll do some quick function tests first to make sure I don't get a baffle strike. Then I'll perform an informal test similar to what I did with a few VZ 58 comps several months ago. This should give me a crude measure of the compensation of the device vs bare muzzle and the A2 (see video below). I have an idea for a recoil measuring device but I have to get off my ass and build it.

I think you might need to reposition your tac light.

:) It's fine. The angle of the pics make it look like it's farther forward than it is. I'll be testing it, with the flashlight turned on, during the next range session. I'm interested to see how the little Fenix light holds up.

I enjoy shooting as much as the next guy, but that's maybe a detail we didn't need.

Now there is a mental image I didn't need. :(

:mad:CRAP! THE FLASHLIGHT will be turned on, THE FLASHLIGHT!!!!! :D

Thanks for the kind words by those that want one, and those who have PM'd me about it. I don't have any plans to sell them (and I don't want to violate board rules). I haven't even tested it yet.
