clone/build a k98 sniper

i dont want drilla and tap any collectible rifle . i am a WW2 sniper fan , i want a nice sniper rifle long time , just for my dream. but you know the original sniper rifle price very expensive, and also not easy to find it . so i am going to clone some WW2 sniper. i was clone a springfield 1903A4, a mosin nagant PU sniper. but these rifle all in mismatch # sporter or bubba rifle. i always respect the collectible rifle and history.

I don't understand why people are upset.

As long as he isn't messing with an all matching rifle (most K98's are not matching) or trying to fake a rifle to make a profit, why not make a clone?

The trick is to make an authentic clone (correct scope for the year and rifle maker). Where else is he expected to gain that information other than from a milsup forum.

Even hard core K98 forums such as www.k98kforum.com or the g43 forum don't hack on people trying to make clone snipers. As long as they are tying to make one as authentically as possible, go right ahead.

If he was trying to put a scout mount on it or drilling and tapping to add a tasco scope, ok...send him to the sporter section.

He sounds like someone looking for help to make an authentic looking sniper, something which is highly cloned, faked and if original is probably out of the price range for 98% of collectors.

unfortunately there are a minority here

who believe that military rifles are sacred objects. The truth is that the history is in the people and the places and most importantly the ideas that we fought over, not the things. And from a real standpoint there were more 98's made than rem 700's so in reality the 700 is much more rare but no one cries when you rebarrel a 700, do they?
