I want to add a 9mm to my collection. I am partial to the Beretta 92. I recently handled but was unable to fire a Taurus 92. It seemed alright. I have seen the Girsan 16 online, does anyone have an opinion on the Girsan compared to the Taurus. Any thoughts on either as a weekend toy at the local range.

The Girsan is built under license from Beretta by a firm that also produces licensed HK smg's and rifles. I haven't played with one yet, but they're built as a service sidearm, by a country with a very decent military - I'd expect them to be as good as a Beretta.

I bought one with a railat less than $500. Did not fire it yet (I bought two more 9mm right after this one). In terms of machining finishing, it is very very good even under the slide. Slide very smooth. l would expect it very close to Beretta in performance wise.

The taurus is built in a plant that beretta built, on beretta tooling. They put the plant in to supply brazil's military, then brazil bought it out at the end of the contract. I'd be quite happy with one of them, I haven't seen the other you mention so i can't comment

Let me know what you think after you shoot, have you tried the Beretta?

I'd go with a Turk over the Taurus....price and availability at this point favors the Turk. Taurus has a bit of a **** rep for service, and some QC issues in the past.

That was my first thought, the Turk factory has ISO cert and all I know Bazil for is a lower body hair cut.

I did not try the Beretta, I only compare the smoothness of their slides. I can say the Beretta does not feel smoother. Give me sometime I will post some pic.
