Been lucky enough to never have any dangerous close encounters. About 10 years ago my dad and I were out bowhunting deer. I seen a doe and pair of fawns with a buck not far behind about 400 yds heading into the swamp where dad's treestand was. Pretty much any time I've seen deer get spooked out of there, they would come back in the direction I was along a overgrown fence line.
Anyway after they were out of sight I snuck out of my ground blind and went and tucked myself into the fence line and waited. Within about 15-20 mins I could hear an ATV in the bush across the field behind me (opposite direction of where dad was). After a few minutes all I seen was hooves go flying past my head about 3 ft away. Scared the ever loving crap out of me . Lol. The ATV must've spooked this small buck, and I was busy watching for these other 4 deer to come out. He jumped the fence, and I'd have been 3 ft to the left he would've flattened me.
A couple years ago we were getting ready to push a thick cedar swamp. I was waiting for the guys to get lined up and seen a deer running about 20 yds away just inside a rail fence. I was just turning to try for a shot at that one,when I seen a flash out of the corner of my eye. The doe didn't know I was there, and jumped the rail fence and was running right at me. I swung back that way, and don't think I even got the shotgun on my shoulder and fired. She summer salted and when she hit ground she was so close I could touch her nose with my foot without moving.
Like I said, no dangerous close encounters, but deffinatly close.
