Close Over Under with or without a slow release of the lever, and Beretta wear

I do not hold the release lever when closing my O/U shotguns. I close the action firmly but slowly.

Still using the same tub of Ponsness Warren's STOS I bought 20 plus years ago

Lithium based grease, Lith-Eaze t be exact.
I also have a big tube of Lubriplate that has been in the shop forever!

Any lithium grease will do. Some years ago I was given several tubes of Nye Rheolube, a lithium grease, and use it because it was free.

What's important isn't the brand but replacing the grease after each outing. The grease will attract dirt and debris and transform itself from a lubricant to an abrasive.
