Anyone tried to build and to register a completely redesigned StenMk3 from a US smaller-than-original frame, and a NEWLY designed bolt, bolt springs, AR-15 firing pin and hammer (in short, conversion was done to make it a CLOSED BOLT)and a parts kit?

I wish to build a Mk3 with a 19inches Uzi barrel so that it would not be restricted. However, the legality of such a project is not clear.

I remember having read somewhere here on CGN that at least ONE person tried to register one and was waiting for an "OK" from the CFC. An answer would be appreciated.

IIRC, the issue with the build up involves the use of Sten parts. And ironicly, it isn't if the open vs closed conversion is kosher, it's about the legallity of certain parts groups.

At various times, the RCMP used to record the serial number on the magwell or on the trigger group as the guns serial number. Stupid as it is, they now can't seem to agree on if a magwell or a seperated trigger group would constitute a non-grandfathered full or converted full auto.

I know, most would argue they are simply parts, and the tube is the reciever.
