Where did you find that light mount for the front end?? How much was it?

Very nice choices in practical working guns by the way.

Thanks

Geologist: What do you think of the sights that are offered on the current production CZ550 FS.

I intend to get one in 9.3x62 and top it with a Leupold 1x4 in Talley QD rings.

Thanks

I find that I am faster with ghost rings than express sights.

The sights on the current CZ550's are the same or close to the same quality as the BRNO's which are very good. Bwana Dave and Crazy Davey have recently porchased CZ550 Magnum's and could elaborate on the quality of their sights.

I thinkthat your choice in rifle/scope above is spot on for the big bears.

Has anyone on this board tried installing a ghost ring on the CZ 550/602 and still had the ability to use a scope in QD mounts??

Boomer, when are you gonna quit taunting me with pictures of my dream rifle? :D

Those things you can have are only limited by money and imagination.

If I was going to build this rifle today, I would choose a carbon stee,l unfluted barrel, probably a Kreiger. While there is nothing wrong with my barrel, Rob Smith makes an excellent product, Kreiger laps his barrels while Smith apparently does not, and my Kreiger .308 cleans in a fraction of the time it takes to clean this barrel. Kreiger claims that carbon steel has qualities that make it superior in the cold weather compared to stainless, and over time I've come to think that a fluted barrel is out of place on this type of rifle. Aesthetics aside, the flutes can allow debris into the barrel channel. However, as long as it continues to shoot as well as it does, I will not change barrels anytime soon.

I think I'd take a hard look at the Brockman ghost ring rather than the Tally which is adjustable for windage but not elevation. When not in use, the Brockman pushes down flush and out of the way. Lastly, I wish I could find a better EER scope - one with an etched reticle and low profile externally adjustable turrets like those on my old 6X Khales sniper. If you ever find one, let me know.
