Anyway, the defintion of a "misnomer" is that the name applied to something is misleading or improper. I am aware that english speakers usually call it a "safety sear", what I am saying is that that name is improper and misleading.

Not to be the devils advocate but if it's known most commonly on this side of the pond as a safety sear then it can't be a misnomer because we wouldn't know it by its Belgian/Francophone roots because of how it's been translated for us.....just my 2c
