I am begining to cast & have seen the 13 grains of red dot floating around. Problem is lebarons is the closest place to buy power & they only have hodgon & winchester. Can someone suggest an alternative to the 13gr red in one of powders I can buy at lebarons?Thanks

In my burning speed chart, Red-Dot is #4, (on 103)
#3 is Hodgdon Titewad
#5 is Hodgdon Clays
Can't help you much more, since I don't know for which caliber and what bullet weight.
Those would be the closest in term of burning speed, still, it does not make it a 100% substitute for Red-Dot, follow your reloading manual info (you probably know that, but I'm just covering my butt
)

I would love to but most are somewhat limited. I just picked up the lyman manual & they always seem to recomend whatever powder you don't have. going to see if I can find some loads for win 231 & a 185gr cast gas checked bullet. Hopping for about 1600-1700 fps.

It would still be nice to know what caliber you are shooting...
As for returning the powder, don't know how your retailer feels about it, but I would never accept back a container of powder once it was opened or left my shop. (Same goes for all components.)
