This is one reason I'm so hesitant to buy anything used. And I do get it; if you have a $300.00 Norinco you probably don't mind treating it like your red headed step child. But if you have forked over some serious coin for a custom competition 1911, you probably want to stretch your money as far as you can by not beating the crap out of it unnecessarily.

Is the 1911 the only one with this problem, or are newer designs sensitive to this as well

When the gun is not yours then you treat it with respect when handling. When you own it, do whatever the #### you want to it.
