Hey folks,
It looks like the weather is getting warmer, the sun is shining and the spring is coming!! With that said it is time for us, the recreational shooters, to pick up our guns and head outside to enjoy the day burning some of this nasty corrosive ammo using our beloved and legal ( for now at least ) RED GUNS.
IS THERE anybody in Edmonton area who is considering a "group meeting"? Bring some hotdogs or steaks, get together, shoot some targets and show your gun and your skills too?!
Let's get together and have some fun?
Location is to be determined. I leave it up to you.

Hey West Coast guy, don't hijack my thread! Start your own, you are welcome to my idea thou!

As of WHERE - I welcome your suggestions. Let's keep it at let's say 200 km radius? If you know a good spot for the gathering - let us know and people will decide. As long as we have enough folks interested in getting together, we will be able - I'm sure - to find the place.

My son and I would be up for it, anyone else belong to the Genesee range, that might be a good spot. Bruderhiem sand hills might be good as well but I think you need a permit to shoot there

This sounds like a lot of fun! I assume we are talking about some Saturday this spring?

I belong to the range at Camrose, and I know they allow rental groups. It only goes out to 100 meters, but it is a nice range.

Great Idea!! Swap info and cure problems, poke holes in unsuspecting paper! Then a BBQ, in Alberta, gotta be some great steaks there!!
Red Rifles by the Red River!

Hmmm… an Alberta Red Rifle gathering…

1. Have fun, show off rifles - bits & add-ons.
2. Rifle Rodeo !! (Shoot guns, hit targets & maybe some fun competitions for some inexpensive donated prizes),
3. Do a thread requested 'Parts swap' to be swapped once people get there,
4. Eat charred meat - mmmmmmm.
5. Maybe have a demonstration or something (like for newbies - an SKS tear down/cleaning/cosmo removal demo etc.)
6. have T-shirts or a cool 'Red' hat made for the event…

I'm up for it, but I am in Calgary - would we centralize it, move it around year to year ?….

Who knows of an outdoor range that would allow use for a day ? Could be some great range publicity.

The idea with the range rental might not work - most of the ranges do not allow steel core ammo.....
I'm thinking more of a crown land. I've been to area close to Entwisle, about 200 km from Edmonton west towards Jasper.
I know, it is quite away but it is very nice. If you guys have other suggestions - lets hear them.

Just red rifles? Why not make it just a Milsurp meet and greet. Genesse range is close to Edmonton and I would be willing to sign in some people as guests.Everyone that is a member at Genesse say yes and let's do this.Range fees for guests are $20.00.We would have to do some planning as to the course of fire and the BBQ logistics. We will have to inform the range committee as to our plans so they can inform the members what ranges will be unavailable for that day.

That sounds like a good idea! If you could please find out exact details and possibly dates that are available?
