Incidentally, the calibrations will give approximately correct elevations only if the rifle has been properly zeroed, and standard Mk. VII ammunition is used. A decent No. 4 rifle can produce useful groups at longer ranges, but it is a bit much to expect that the the elevations will be exact.
 
Yes. In use, the rifle would first be zeroed on a 30 yds range, with the slide set at 200. The front sight would be changed until the group fell in the correct spot, and was centred for windage. I have fired a No. 4 to 500 with the CMk. 3 sight, and to 900 with a PH5C target sight. The comeups on the CMk. 3 will give an approximation at longer ranges, but some holdoff is likely going to be necessary.
