CMMG .22 conversion and SR-15 a no go

Went to the range today and fired off a few .223 rounds, then went to throw in my CMMG .22 conversion. It doesn't fit! The feed ramps on the SR-15 are too close together, preventing the conversion from being fully installed. I was hoping to get some good trigger time on it and do some drills!

it's not the feed ramps, its the barrel extension itself.

The E3 barrel extension is not backwards compatible.

I will not recommend subjecting your SR to the .22 treament since you have no mean to replace the gas tube if it is plugged.
