CMMG .22LR uppers, who has them?

so are there any other choices?

We have the Cheappa, CMMG and the (maybe nonexistant) NEA one. we also have the conversion kits that replace just the bolt in your existing upper.

Anything else?

Spikes used to make .22 uppers, although I don't see them on the website anymore, they are fairly rare in Canada.

Model One Sales makes a variety of .22 uppers, but as far as I know they are only available in the US.

Got mine from Questar a couple years ago with some Blackdog mags. It's awesome for getting lots of trigger time for little $$!! The 26 round mags are a great compliment and the upper itself works great. No issues!! Precision is ok for a .22lr, about 3-4 inches at 50 yards open sights from the bench or kneeling. I swapped out the front sight post for a mil-spec one which is thinner. I use Winchester 40gr round nose plated 1300fps most of the time with it. Use it with my Norc lower... Like I said, no issues!!

By any chance, are S&W 15-22 full capacity mags legal where you are moving to in SA? If so, these are the best mags, by far, to use in an AR lower with your CMMG upper. The are cheap, reliable, easy to load and have a built in bolt hold open in the follower. Redi-Mag makes an adapter:

The S&W mags will actually function in an AR-22, without an adapter, but they are very loose and I am not sure that they would be 100% reliable for this reason. I only used them briefly, but they worked fine during a couple of 25 round mag dumps (prior to the 10 round limit, in Canada, of course). From what I have read, these are the mags of choice for people in the US running competitions with AR-22's.

Thanks for the heads up Tom E Gun.. I already got 5 Black Dog mags coming in today unless I get ninja'd by the mailman, so I should be good for a while and top level competitors in the Philippines and Thailand mostly run them. Otherwise, S&W 15-22 mags would have been legal in standard capacity and many guys run matches with the S&W platform. Then again, you have many guys who run matches with the 715T, which is in-f***ing-sane considering that it costs the same as much better/less unreliable guns down there (mostly overinflated prices due to government red tape).

The Chiappa started awful for me but after some love, care and tenderness (read: polishing cloth, lots of lube and 1000 rounds of CCI mini-mags ) runs quiet well on most ammo, using older black dog mags (30's and few 20's).

Has anyone had any experience with the Tac-Sol version? And are they (CMMG and Tac-Sol) all metal uppers?

Yes Tac Sol and CMMG are all metal. I had a Tac Sol M4 upper. It was ok, but I never really liked it for some reason, I'm still not exactly sure why. My buddie shot it a few times and felt the same way too. There was nothing much wrong with it, but it never grew on me. Everything about it was just mediocre including the accuracy. Also the bolt spring "C" clip is very apt to fly off and get lost. I prefer the CMMG style bolt assembly. My shortie CMMG upper is much more fun than the 16" Tac Sol. YMMV

Slowly coming together.. Still waiting on the Hogue grip and the CMMG upper, so I'll have to run the match with my buddy's NEA upper. Got the mags too, will post a review after tonight ;) At least the trigger and the buttstock are gtg :50cal:

Ok... I figured this thread is due for a bump since I expect the upper to arrive on Monday and the 15" Troy tube just arrived, which got me thinking about Mona Lisa again. As I mentioned in several places, the NEA upper was a lightstrike-o-matic.. Really ruined my time at the match, but fortunately, the guys who finished above me would have done it had everything went well, so I didn't lose any spots. The s3g trigger has worked flawlessly on the 556 upper, but I may need to experiment with the springs before it works reliably with the 22lr upper. I'll find out by the end of next week. Love the buttstock but it's a little long for me even in just warm clothes, so you can imagine how it is in full winter gear. Still, I expect 100% of its future shooting to be in above +5 conditions, so at worst, it's a "take off the light jacket and put up with the weather for half a minute, wearing a light underarmour shirt" kinda deal. AP Custom guys were experiencing a material shortage of carbon cheek tubes for the buttstock, so I'm still waiting to figure out whether my tube will be mounted here or abroad.

The CMMG upper from IRG still hasn't arrived? Damn.

Double-shipment due to the SHOT Show (December one got skipped and that's when I ordered), then it took a long time to get a double-batch out.. Should arrive soon so I can remove and sell the 12" CMMG keymod tube, mount the 15" Troy tube and move the Deltapoint over from my 223 rifle (mounted it there mostly to get used to it once my build is complete).

Lookin' good! Got ammo?

Thanks! Yep... Got decent amounts of 222's and SuperX... May even have a few SV's (ideal ammo for the application, but based on ammo availability where I'll be running this rifle, she'll mostly be fed Super X :( ).. Will do some range testing tomorrow or on Saturday. Btw, I just weighed in my build with the sight on, but unloaded and got 5lbs on the dot
