CMMG .22LR uppers, who has them?

Ok went last night and got her zeroed. Experiencing light strikes but not as bad as on the NEA upper.. Still, I wouldn't wanna be running a match until I have this issue licked. Checked out the forums and it looks like a couple of items needed to fix it - Taccom firing pin and pressure plug. Will order those, plus the upgraded extractor from Cactus and keep you guys posted.

I love my Chiappa upper, and on an Omni Gen 2 Hybrid LMSR lower, it is a very light rifle. That's it on the bottom. I have put 1000's of rounds, of all variety through it, and not one hiccup!

Range report... Tried out my baby after IPSC pistol practice.. The new plug/firing pin combo definitely gave me much more solid strikes, but I still had some FTF's.. About half of them fired the 2nd time around, so most of the FTF's can be written off as crap Winchester ammo. After 2 strikes, the back of the casings was dramatically dented beyond the pin strike areas. I'm even tempted to use one of the supplied shims that come with the firing pin to back it off a little... (side-note: The pin was still behind the bolt face and no slamfires)

Do you think it's possible that some of these new FTF's are caused by the same effect as raised centerfire primers and that backing off the pin so it still gives solid strikes but doesn't go QUITE as deep, may mitigate that a bit?

I had another problem and those were FTE's after FTF's.. Do you guys think a slightly stiffer recoil spring would help with those? I know that it's a part of the Taccom reliability kit but I couldn't source one locally or with any retailer that ships to Canada, so I ordered all the parts individually, minus the spring.

Back from yet another trip with the CMMG upper and sent another 500 rounds or so through it. Minimags and Federal bulk ran quite well. Golden bullets failed miserably, I had bombed up 3 mags and didn't get past the first without jams every 2 shots. Mostly fail to feeds. Tried second mag and exactly the same jams. Confirmed it was the Golden bullets and de-bombed the mags. Luckily my M&P22 eats up Golden bullets by the bucket.

I had one strange jam (bullet stuck in charging handle channel) that could have been prevented had I used the CMMG 22 charging handle. I do have it, however I prefer to run my BCM ambi charging handle.

I discovered new jams today. My bolt carrier would lock back for no good reason with a full mag on. Happened 3 times. Had to break open the rifle to solve this issue. Turns out my forward assist device was getting caught on the bolt where the recoil spring is and it was causing it to jam rearwards. I will not use it anymore. Turns out this thing causes more jams than it helps to prevent. I forgot my BHOA at home so I could not see if this was causing jams too. From what I recall, this add-on doesn't cause me any grief. When I ran the upper in ''vanilla'' mode with no add-ons using Federal Bulk and Minimags it ran quite well.

TRaTSeRiF - What is the ammunition you were using? Does it work when you try it with Minimags? My function test with 22's when they are giving me headaches is to run those. If Minimags fail, I know I probably have a problem.

Ok, I played around with shimming the firing pin and with 2 shims (YMMV) I get the most reliability. Win 222's still give me about 2 per mag that don't go off. Remington (not golden crap) will either give me a reliable mag or the occasional ftf (every 2-3 mags), but better than the 222's. Every other mag, I may get a fail to extract, but that's consistent with both types of ammo. Didn't try any other stuff.

Took out the BHOA before I even fired a single round. I knew that it won't do me any good and had the feeling that it has a potential to negatively affect the reliability. I'm sure it's somewhere in the junk parts pile lol
