Having entered into the pistol calibre carbine (PCC) world with a Colt-pattern 9mm AR, I've begun to really appreciate the fun of an AR with lower 9mm ammo prices. Plus, being able to shoot at steel up close with an AR is really fun too.

This new PCC design from CMMG seems to be an evolution of the concept. Their Radial Delayed Blowback (RDB) design allows them to lighten the bolt, carrier and buffer, apparently reducing recoil. Further, their approach to last round bolt hold open (LRBHO) with Glock mags seems very well-designed from a reliability and leverage perspective.

It would be cool to get these up here...

Interesting video. The Radial Delayed Blowback is an interesting concept. CMMG offers the Gaurd with an 8.5 and 16 inch barrel and the barrels would be proprietary as they would have locking lugs to accommodate the bolt so this slightly limits the options.

None yet, that I'm aware of. However, the Guard is usually sold as a complete rifle with the upper and lower as it's designed around Glock mags. Also, the lower has a custom last round bolt hold open feature. So, I doubt that you'd be able to put it on top of any 9mm lower and have it work properly.

You’re right. From CMMG’s website:

“Our MkG GUARD uppers allow you to build a Pistol Caliber Carbine using our Patent Pending Radial Delayed Blowback System. Unlike typical direct blowback systems, our RDB uses a bolt that is forced to rotate and unlock, slowing the BCG. This results in a lighter BCG for a lighter rifle, and less felt recoil than a straight blowback system.

Our MkGs Uppers are designed to work exclusively with our MkGs Lowers. Other manufacturers lowers may work, but we cannot guarantee function or reliability.“
