I just got my AR .22 conversion kit from Questar. Installed it very quickly but then realized that charging handle is not moving at all :( Took it out, inspected it, lubricated it but it was still stuck. It took me maybe 10-15 times until I got it to this condition:

Is that a common break-in procedure for this kit or mine is some how defective?
 
Ensure your charging handle is not a Gas Buster type. The front claw will not fit the CMMG bolt properly to allow it to rack.
If it is not a Gas Buster, take the kit apart and use fine sandpaper to sand down the rails the bolt rides on.
After 10-15mins the bars should be shiny...This will simulate hundreds of rounds of break-in. Your second vid looks like its starting to "break-in".

When the conversion kit is cycling under normal firing conditions the charging handle is not going along for the ride. Lube it and shoot it. Mine did the same thing. It shoots fine but is just picky on ammo.

Also it may fail to eject dummy rounds if you are cycling with .22lr "snap" caps. This is no indication on how it will work with real live rounds....

Take it out and shoot with it. I think it will be just fine.

Run it wet with light gun oil. clean it well.

Although I don't have personal experience with this kit, here's what it says from the CMMG website:

For best performance use a rounded style hammer, notched hammers can cause function issues. 36 grain bullets have proven to be the best choice for function.

I echo the above comment about hammer shape and charging handle types. The other thing is to use the recommended ammo. Federal bulk pack stuff is what the kit was designed around and it's cheap too.

Don't forget to clean the chamber with a brush in a drill or similar device to get out the built up carbon either. I didn't do and eventually realized that was the source of failures to extract. The carbon just builds up so fast in that area you need the drill treatment every time you clean the kit
 
run a very wet bolt. functions best, and easier to clean. the extractor has alot of pressure behind it, thats what holding it open.

under normal conditions, the velocity of the bolt overcomes this while shooting.
 
+1 Federal bulk, the black "Blazer" box at CT work just fine.

And I prefer smoke (see thru) Blackdog mags so you can see how many rounds in the mags. The Black ones make it hard to keep track of how many shots loaded/left.
 
Thanks again for all your info! Just came back from the range and had a zero problems with this kit! Was using it with Federal as suggested, sanded rails and oiled it.

My kit runs perfectly fine on the Win555's...so that's what I buy($17.84/555)
If you're getting Black Dog mags don't forget to pick up a mag loader! I have 2 smoked, 2 black mags(all 25rnders) and a 10rnd. My son spends less time loading and more time blasting away.

I couldn't get your movie to load, but it looks like you have the parkerized conversion kit. I have the same one and all I did was grease the rails up with white grease and cycle the bolt back and forth by hand for a bit with the conversion carrier out of the rifle. Once the parkerizing soaks up the grease it runs fine. I have ran the conversion in a Colt AR and my Norc M4 with the same results.

The Norc has a notched hammer and I have had no problems so far with it. I have had it out once to the range in the M4 and put ~500 rounds through with no issues.

My setup likes the Winchester 333/555 ammo and Winchester Dynapoint GT ammo. I also tried Federal 525 ammo, but had numerous jams with it. One mag full of American Eagle 38gr high velocity ammo also fed with no issues. I ran about a brick of the Dynapoint GT's through with 1-2 jams in total. It will be my standard ammo choice from now on.
