Yesterday CMMG announced the introduction of their Mk47 series rifles chambered in 7.62X39:

http://www.cmmginc.com/

They have announced 3 models, the Mk47 Mutant T. Mutant AKM and Mutant AKM2. The differences are the features and furniture the rifle's are equipped with. Have a look at their website for more details.

We are being told that deliveries should be sometime in January. These rifle's will accept the MAGPUL MOE AK PMAG which we will also look at bringing in.

Pricing for the base model will be $1,999.99 and goes up from there.

We are looking at placing an order so let us know who's interested and which model(s) .

If you want to be first in line let us know and we'll get you there, just send us an email.

same question restricted or not? if yes lots of 7,62 AR's out there for half that cost....

I always wanted an AR that uses AK mags. I would've thought prices would be better given the glut on the marketplace however. Oh well, time for tough decisions, and at least now (thanks to Questar) we have the ability to choose :)

Other than a different stock, glancing the site description doesn't go into any explanation as to why the price difference between the models.

Chrome-lined barrel? Nitrided?

AR10 bolt, AR15 trigger group, upper and lower receiver based on the AR15 design but modified to take AK mags.

Restricted.

From what i was reading, apparently the lower can not take standard AR uppers at all. The pins won't match up.

But I'm not holding my breath on a NR status.

I do have a question though, is the rail able to be switched out for standard AR rails, like DD or midwest industries? I want either a pica tinny or M-LOK rail on mine.

CMMG calls it an AR. It is advertised as a modified AR15. Writing is on the wall.

Not familiar with their rail.

Yes. Technically the importer could make a case, but we all know how long a new FRT can take. It would be worth it though.

agreed. personally, id rather have this rifle as Rest then not have it at all due to some legal battle reclassifying it.

As for Quester, email sent!

Doesn't Rock River Arms also make an AR that takes them big banana clips?

How's the price on those compare?
