CMP in Canada?

Dominion Marksman

We had a rifle range located under the high school auditorium. Earned bronze, silver, and gold. At 14, I joined Sea Cadets, the range was located under the Armoury.Used No.7C rifles. Dominion Marksman program there also. Everyone was taught to respect the firearms, never heard of any accidents. Every tuesday a group of us teenagers carried our .22's into the school! No big deal, its just the rifle team. The school was in a large city (New Westminster, B.C.) Never, never, had a problem, with any group, police, or individual. Times have changed, for the worst in my opinion. Still have the pins, hanging on the reloading room wall.

Yep I have plenty experience with the CMP. I have two rifles I picked out from there. I live two hours from the Anniston, Alabama CMP store. I just drive there, pick out the rifles I want, pay and drive home with them. I can also have them shipped direct to me without an FFL transfer. I currently have a Springfield Garand '43 with a near new '56 barrel and a Mossburg 44US. I order a can or two of Greek or Lake City 30.06 every year too.

I can't conceive of the CMP being formed in today's political climate here. If it hadn't started as a gov. chartered organization (DCM) a long time ago we wouldn't have it now. I guess the same could be said for our U.S. Constitution too. As far as a shooting organization I'm currently more impressed with the efforts of the Appleseed project as a grassroots organization for turning citizens into riflemen. Only been to a couple CMP sanctioned shoots. One for Garands and one vintage military rifle shoot. Might try getting my rifleman status with Appleseed soon. :ban:

How big of a can of the 30-06 Greek or LC can you get? Sardine type can or regular .30 or .50 cal ammo can? Do they come on bandoleers? Just curious whats out there. I have a sardine can of .30 M1 in bandoleers, I don't want to open it until I have a second one to stow away.
