CNC'ing a gun stock

that would be very expensive and an extremly long run time.atleast with what I have used.never had good luck making realy smooth contour finishes like that

I agree that it would be expensive, but it's not impossible or anything. It would depend on the design. I've seen some target rifles with stocks that look like a short length of fencepost with a thumbhole in it. How hard would that be to machine? Try this shop (they're in Kelowna BC);

Alternatively, a buddy of mine makes CNC foam sculptures for signs and movie sets and stuff. I'm sure he could whip you up a rifle stock out of foam and then you could get a mold made and cast it in aluminum (or any other material that can be cast/injection molded/etc).

For that matter, if you found an aftermarket one you liked and sent it to a foundry, like one of these places;

they could make a mold of it for you and pump out a few in aluminum. The larger the order the less the cost (as is usually the case with this kinda stuff), so if you can afford to order a large number and sell them to recoup your expenses (or, god forbid, make a profit!), you'd be laughing :D

Cast aluminum can be heat-treated just the same as billet, and it polishes up just as nice. You could even get it anodized in all manner of fantastic colors, or plated in another metal (copper would be cool), and it takes chemical treatements very well (parkerizing, oxiding, etc). Hope that helps!
