Co-witness question on M14s

An eotech for sure won't co-witness...you'll need something with a low profile like an aimpoint in their factory low 30mm rail:

It also allows ultra-low mounting of the springfield scout scope. I pulled my aimpoints a while ago and have been running the scout scope for a while. It keeps growing and growing on me, especially given that my eyes aren't what they used to be!

OH MY GOD, AFTER SEEING THOSE PICTURES. I think I wet myself!

Those are awesome!

Where can you find that scout scope? Long eye relief?

How's it holding zero?

Nice!

Can you co-witness irons through your low sitting scout scope?

c9 - Scope is made by Leupold, on the ultimak rail held with a set of low leupold QRW rings it has no issues at all holding zero. I bought the scopes (I have a bunch) from wholesale sports here in Calgary. It is a bit of a rarity within the scope world in that has what's called "intermediate eye relief" Longer than a traditional rifle scope, but shorter than a handgun scope; optimum eye relief is approximately 8 inches.

Since taking the photograph I've sent all my centerfire designated scout scopes to Korth in Okotoks and have had their new CDS externally adjustable elevation and windage turrets installed; other than being a little heavy the system rocks and I can usually first-round-hit whatever I can see (provided I know the range) out to about 550 meters. the only thing that would make it better is if leupold offered a german #4 reticle with a finer center cross hair (but keep the monster thick side posts).

h20 - the rear diopter interferes with the bottom 1/3 of the reticle. You can see the bottom of the thick post through the hole (which is useful as another reference point on alignment) however the front post is completely blurred out. Altyhough they are in the same plane and technically co-witnessing all you see of the front sight is a bit of distortion in the bottom 1/3 of the reticle.

Brobee, I have a Leupold FX-II 2.5x28mm IER Scout on my Guide Gun.
This could be replaced with a Micro T-1 and move to a Poly with the
UltiMAK M8... I like your reticle idea and those custom turrets sound ideal.

Thanks, H2O
