So. Recently I had to rush out and buy a Stoeger Silverado Coach Gun in 12 gauge for direly important REASONS... that I am still self-justifying.

It's a looker, similar to this one. http://3.bp.########.com/-KsZ5d93FC-4/T56s9VyFaKI/AAAAAAAACmY/YCpDw7K3PMk/s1600/Imgp2635.jpg

Now, the Coach gun satisfies all the most important parameters for owning a firearm. 1. Looks purty. 2. Makes me feel like a big man. 3. Helps me envision various Wild West and Apocalypse scenarios. 4. Makes my friends feel jealousy and my wife feel tolerant amusement...

:D

All kidding aside, though, I love the thing. I plan on using it for a bit of casual small-game bush-bashing/trail-hunting in the fall and probably as a general purpose jeep gun.

Anyone else have one of these beauties? What do you use it for? Have you found any problems, any ammo that works well or poorly? Anyone given theirs a cool nickname? I think "The Bloody Pinkerton" has a nice ring to it...

Edited to add: What's the deal with dry-firing in a side by side shotgun? Will my #### fall off?

^Maybe your appendage won't fall off, but if you break the firing pins, chances are the cost to have them replaced will cost more than what you paid for the nice shotgun x's 2 or 3. (if the firing pins do not have a handy bushing)
IMO, get some snap caps & chances are this will not happen.

I own a 410 stoeger coach gun and its a dandy grouse getter for sure. I would think that you would need to dry fire it quite in order to risk breaking a firing pin and I woul assume that stoeger does indeed stock them.

I often dry fire my shotgun after cleaning, just to make sure everything is functional. I bought some snap caps that are actually metal with a rubber piece where the pin hits, they are very nice ones and cost about $12 for two, picked them up at Wholesale Sports.

I use the same.

It is a nice looking gun for sure.

I'd buy just because it's nice looking.... and also because it's probably the last gun you will be allowed to keep that has more than a single shot which might be useful for self defense.

After they come for the semi-auto, the handguns, and any gun with a magazine.
