Coach Guns - enlighten me (Any Stoeger Coach Gun Supreme owners?)

I'm thinking of getting rid of one of my pumps for a coach gun. I had a Stoeger/IGA one and it fit me well and was a blast to shoot. I regretfully sold it.

I think my biggest question is the Stoeger "Coach Gun" vs the Stoeger "Coach Gun Supreme". I like the idea of removable chokes. Who has a Supreme? Is the wood that much better than the standard model, and is the rubber but pad a help with the recoil? I'm on a budget and the Supreme is $70 more plus about $10 extra taxes. That's not a big deal if it's worth the extra coin. Can anyone with a Supreme comment?

Can anyone recommend another option in this price range (aprox retail $500) I emailed for a quote on a Cimarron 1878. It's beautiful but I expect it to surpass my budget. CZ is definatly out of my range. I don't care if it has exposed hammers or not, but if it does have them I'd like them to be functional.

So what's everyone rocking for affordable coach guns?

I know nothing on this subject. But generally it has been my experience in buying anything, be it a car, motorcycle, TV, computer, ect., that if you buy the step down economy version, you'll be kicking yourself in 2 months wishing you coughed up the extra money for the features you're missing.

Not having chokes is going to drive you insane when you want to adjust your patterns.

[EDIT]
I hate myself in a really deep and saddening way for not getting heated leather interior, a 1000cc instead of a 650cc, a 1080p instead of a 720p and 8GB ram instead of 4gb ram.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. I liked the standard Coach Gun I had, but If I'm going to have to sell a gun off to buy a new one, I want it to be worth it.

I'm very seriously considering the Coach Gun Supreme. If anyone has feedback or even real life pictures of one it would be great.

I see that Williams' Arms has an excellent-condition used 12ga Supreme in stock. You should check it out.

I'm not being altruistic...I'm hoping you buy it so that I'm not tempted.

I believe that one was on the EE just a short time ago but the buyer wasnt willing to ship. I may have to inquire about it.

However if I buy it from a dealer I would probably still pay tax, and definatly shipping so it wouldn't even be a $100 cheaper than a new one from Wholealse.

But thanks for the heads up!

The cimarrons are not cheap. The cheapest I've seen them is on marstar. The chokes are a big plus and the wood is nicer. The recoil pad adds a lil length and was softer. I didn't notice a difference between the two but I was only shooting lite loads. I was looking for the polished nickle supreme but couldn't locate one when I had the money. Supremes have a glossy finish that I wasn't to thrilled about. I'd go for the supreme personally

The Cimarron will end up being about $175 more than the Supreme. The Stoeger really has more pros than the Cimarron for me. I think that that's what I'm going to go for.

I like my coach gun supreme. The removeable chokes are nice , but i still havent got any others than the two that came with it. Most places i have asked didnt know what to give me so i dont know if they take weird chokes or if the people i have talked to were just morons. The finish on the stock seems a little cheap and mine has flaked off in a few places. Overall its a good solid gun but i often still finding myself going back to my 870. If you get one i'd definatley get the supreme for the added versatility of the chokes, and in regards to the butpad if you dont like recoil i'd get a different pad for it as it is a really light gun and the pad is not very soft/forgiving.

I used to own the standard coach gun and would still have it if I could change the chokes. I loved the gun but found the shot spread too quickly for certain situations. If I could have put a full choke on it, it'd probably be the only shotgun in the cabinet. Go for the higher end gun with more versatility.

I own one and the wood is definitely better then the regular coach gun. I also like the fact that it has butt pad installed from factory on it. The removable chokes are nice as well, though I only own the 2 that came with it.

Give Al Flaherty's a call regarding ordering one, they are the cheapest around that I can find (less then 500, at least in February of this year it was)

Cheers.

I have to ask - why do you need removable chokes on a coach gun? I don't get it.

Simple, to tighten up the pattern depending on your usage.

I have two IGA Supreme Coach Guns. One in the standard blued and one in the polished nickel. Love em both. Having the removable chokes is a big plus for dialing them in for Cowboy Action. They use IGA choke tubes, so there is ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUE with getting other choke tubes, just order what you want.

I have a Stoeger Double Defense and its become my favorite shotgun. Its points great, the single trigger is very fast and is gonna look sweet when I put my fenix weapon light on it.

Flaherty's dosn't have the supreme listed on their site, but I may give them a call. Wholesale has them for $499.

From what I've read Mossberg 500, or Whinchester/Browning Invector chokes will fit the supreme.

I use both the Stoeger and the Norinco coach guns for CAS. The Norinco has functional hammers. Great home defense guns however, if you use them for that purpose, you go straight to jail, without collecting the $200.

I decided on the Stoeger Coach Gun Supreme. I'd have liked exposed hammers, but other than that it has all the features I want for an affordable price. Plus I know what to expect seeing as I had a standard Stoeger Coach before. Went with the traditional blued/wood one. Unfortunatly the ETA isn't until the 1st or 2nd week in Jan.

I understand the purpose for a choke. I do not understand why you need a choke in a short barreled coach gun? Gonna shoot geese with it?
