My new tokarev is a real ##### when it comes to racking the slide. It takes a lot of force. Way more than my other Tokarevs.

I called the place I bought it and explained that it is much easier to rack only after I #### the hammer. I was told by them that the Tokarevs are supposed to have the hammers cocked first before racking the slide.

Huh?

Doesn't sound right to me. Maybe I just have too much spring in my hammer group?

It's fine. Someone might tell you that the tough spring helps to dampen recoil of 7.62 rounds. Maybe. I always #### first. In fact, I ####, insert mag and only rack when I'm ready to shoot.

My Norc 54-1 is the same way. Possibly not the "solution of choice", but a buddy of mine shaved a bit off the top of the forward edge of his hammer to make the travel for the slide a bit smoother, and it worked.

Strangely, my 54-1 rack swith ease. It did from day one, and never required me to #### the hammer first.

I will learn to live with it I guess.

mine is just like that- #### it first, then rack the slide- it's all i can do to do it the other way, but it will do it- tok 54-1
