Help. When refinishing a stock,I cut the offending white line spaced black plastic end cap off. I went into Lee Valley to pick out block of cocobolo, they didn't have any.It seems their supplier went out of business. Who else in the greater Vancouver area has some ?

Lee Valley still lists it on their site. You can order it by mail. A 3/4" x 6" block runs $2.30 each. Lots of places on-line too.

I say Windsor Plywood also ,here in WPG. they have all kinds of exotic stuff.Bought some Cocobolo and still have a hunk for a project. It really polishes up nice BUT when working with it ,use a good dust mask, as the wood is known to cause reactions in people.

Windsor Plywood down just off Lougheed behind the Ford dealership there. Dams I think it is. Windsor is on the corner of Holdom and Kingsland in any event.

Bring money.... LOTS! :D

I build custom knives and gave up on trying to find exotics from local suppliers. eBay is your best bet. Search for knife scales and you'll get hundreds of hits for wood you never knew existed, in small or large quantities. I've bought dozens scales and not been disappointed once.

I have bought from a fellow named Rob Ridley in Cremona, Alberta. He owns a business called Ranger Original Knifemakers Supply. Very good guy. Worth checking him out. PM me for further info as, to the best of my knowledge, he's nto on this board nor a sponsor.

I bought from Ranger as well and was very pleased. He was the only one that had the fibre spacers in the colours that I wanted.

I picked up CPM 154 CM from him for what I thought was a damned fair price. Great service to boot. Knifemakers and hobbyists should really give him a look.
