I have an old Coey single shot break action 20ga. shotgun. In average condition for it's age, of which I don't know.
Anyone have an idea of what it's worth ? Couple hundred or luckily a lot more ?
Could use another cleaning and oiling of which I will do and post in EE soon.

If the bore is shiny and no visible rust on the gun----
Is it an 84 or an 840.
I think it is an 84, so if the action also works smooth and it is your lucky day, $120.

Question Bruce, as you're a man that may know. I have a very similar single shot .410 that sits on the dash of the truck for use on 'Ditch Chickens' while up in the interior on Moose hunts. Over the years, it's supplied us with a considerable quantity of delicious Ruff Grouse camp meat.

It's marked Ranger but I was wondering who would've made it, someone like Cooey or perhaps H&R?

yeah, you typically see single shots anywhere between $100-$150 depending on age, condition, rarety, etc

Looks like a Harrington Richardson Topper to me. I have seen the Ranger name marked on several makes of single shot shotguns made by Cooey, H&R and Iver Johnson. Many department and hardware stores also sold their own guns made by these and other makers years ago.

:)Thanks Mike. Much appreciated. Many more years ago than I like to admit to, an elderly neighbour came over one day and asked if I had a .410. When I said no, he handed it to me and said "you do now". For upland birds I have a nice light sidelock straight stocked English 12ga. SxS

and for the days that are a little on the damp side here on the 'wet coast', I have an earlier production Ruger Red Label OU in 20ga. mag.

The truth be known, that little .410 single has probably put more meat on the table than the other two. :)Thanks again.

$75 to $100. It's a great gun, might as well keep it. If not, sell it to me ;)
