hello,

Just purchased this 8mm.

It has been drilled & tapped, and came with Leupold Dovetail front/windage rear bases and rings. When mounted, the ring height is out @.080" with the rear ring low.

I thought either mismatched pair of bases or cogswell and Harrison ground reciever rings different when refinishing.

Anyone have similar experience with these mausers?

Any guesses? thanks

The simple fix is to put a 0.080" shim under the rear base and not worry about it.

Well - Its likely a military action, and CH removed the charger hump on the rear bridge, taking a bit more metal than needed. Shim away...

I have run into this situation on factory production rifles a couple of times. Shim it and it will be fine. Regards, Eagleye.

try a base for a Parker hale mauser. Churchill sporterised 1917 enfields were ground to that radius.
